The Necessity of Prayer (Part 2)

We must possess a conscience that is clear towards God and towards men, lest our faith suffer shipwreck (1Tim 1:19).

16 But to the wicked God says: what right have you to declare My statutes, or take My convenant in your mouth, 17 seeing that you hate instruction and cast My words behind You? 18 When you saw a their, you consented with him, and have been a partaker with adulterers [those having illicit love affairs with the world and breaking their marriage vow to God, Js 4:4, 1Jn 2:16]. 19 You give your mouth to evil and your tongue frames deceit. 20 You sit and speak against your brother; you slander your own mother’s son. 21 These things you have done, and I have kept silent; you thought that I was altogether like you; but I will rebuke you, and set them in order before your eyes. 22 Now consider this, you who forget God, lest I tear you in pieces, and there be none to deliver: 23 whoever offers praise glorifies Me; and to him who orders his conduct aright I will show the salvation of God (Ps 50:16-23, NKJV).

The crux of the matter is this:

“The Lord will open His good storehouse (treasury), the heavens, to give rain to your land in its season and to bless all the work of your hand; and you shall lend unto many nations, but you shall not borrow (Deut 28:12,NASB ).

God will supply ALL our needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus (Phil 4:19,NASB).

A lot of times, we focus in prayer on the needs we see, rather than on the riches of His inheritance which He will supply by His Spirit. God has blessed us with EVERY spiritual blessing in the “heavenly places” in Christ (Eph 1:3,NKJV). However, just as He taught us concerning prayer to our heavenly Father, we must pray “thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven”.

This is because, EVERY good and perfect gift is from ABOVE, and COMES DOWN from the Father of lights [Father of all who gives light], with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning (Js 1:17, NKJV). Wisdom (Js 3:17), promotion (Ps 75:5-6), power (Lk 24:49) all come down from above. It is His desire to open up for us the windows of heaven and pour out for us such blessing that there will be no room enough to receive it (Mal 3:10).

We have been given the keys of this heavenly kingdom. But are we using the keys? Are we releasing upon the earth that which God has already released for us in the heavenly places? Which government do we depend on (Isa 9:7)? Do we understand our rights as citizens of heaven (Phil 3:20) or why God made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus (Eph 2:6).

Does He truly want to demonstrate to all in this age and in ages to come, the exceeding and limitless riches of His grace in His kindness towards us in Christ Jesus (Eph 2:7). The answer is yes, and again yes. Let us therefore press toward the goal of the heavenly prize to which God in Christ Jesus is calling us upward (Phil 3:14).

And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; and whatever you bind (declare to be improper and unlawful) on earth must be what is already bound in heaven; and whatever you loose (declare lawful) on earth must be what is already loosed in heaven (Matt 16:19, AMP)

Woe to you lawyers! For you have taken away the key of knowledge. You did not enter yourselves, and those who were entering in you hindered (Lk 11:52, NKJV)

But woe to you scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you shut up the kingdom of heaven against men; for you neither go in yourselves, nor do you allow those who are entering to go in (Matt 23:13, NKJV).

Let us know; let us pursue the knowledge of the Lord. His going forth is established like the morning; He will come to us like the rain, like the latter and former rain to the earth (Hos 6:3, NKJV)!

Let fall showers, you heavens, from above, and let the skies rain down righteousness ({the pure, spiritual, heaven-born possibilities that have their foundation in the holy being of God} Isa 45:8, AMP).

I will make them and the places all around My hill a blessing; and I will cause showers to come down in their season; there shall be showers of blessing (Eze 34:26, NKJV).

The keys of the kingdom of heaven are keys of knowledge. In the beginning when God created man in His own image and blessed them, He communicated His blessing by saying words: Be fruitful, multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it (using all its vast resources in the service of God and man (Gen 1:27-28, AMP).

Similarly, He blessed Abraham, giving this inheritance to him by promise (Gal 3:18). We too have been given exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these we may be partakers of the divine nature (2 Pet 1:4). But we must be ready to tarry, holding fast to the promise(s), till we are endued (clothed) from above with power (Lk 24:49), the power of an endless life (Heb 7:16).

17 Listen to the words of the wise, and apply your mind to my knowledge; 18 for it will be pleasant if you keep them in your mind (believing them); your lips shall be accustomed to confessing them (let them be fixed upon your lips). 19 So that your trust may be in the Lord, I have made known these things to you today, even to you (Pv 22:17-19, AMP).

For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed with our habitation which is from heaven, if indeed, having been clothed, we shall not be found naked. For we who are in this tent groan, being burdened, not because we want to be unclothed, but clothed, that mortality may be swallowed up by life. Now He who has prepared us for this very thing is God, who also has given us the Spirit as a guarantee (2 Cor 5:2-5).

The Holy Spirit is our teacher. He has come in Christ’s name to guide us into the knowledge of all truth. He does not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears, He speaks to us. He takes of what is Christ’s (all the treasures of wisdom ad understanding) and declares it to us (Jn 16:13-15).

12 Thanks be to God, for we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God. 13 And these things we speak, not in words which man’s wisdom teaches but which the Holy Spirit teaches, comparing spiritual things with spiritual. (1 Cor 2: 12-13).

Therefore, let us be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplications, with thanksgiving, let us make our requests known to God (Phil 4:6).

Let us continue earnestly in prayer, being vigilant in it with thanksgiving (Col 4:2). And let us rejoice always, praying without ceasing, in everything giving thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for us (1 Thess 5:16-19) .
