Wow, it’s already February 2018 and i’m just getting to say Happy New Year. Do forgive this late greeting but as the saying goes “better late than never” right:-).
I do really mean Happy New Year though (not just as a cliche greeting), and I pray for each and every one of us, that this will be our best year yet. We will look back on 2018 with joy, gladness of heart, wonder and a true overflow of thanksgiving to God.
I have no doubt that this year holds very special things in store for us all. I truly believe this with all my heart. Some people are already seeing signs of this, while others might be reading this wondering what is she talking about?
I am saying this year is indeed GLORIOUS! There are amazing, special packages that God has for every one of we His children.
One scripture i’ve been meditating on this year is Zechariah 10:1. It says;
Ask the Lord for rain
In the time of the latter rain
The Lord will make flashing clouds;
He will give them showers of rain,
Grass in the field for everyone.
The last line says “Grass in the field for EVERYONE“. So I know no one is left out in God’s plan!!!
Having said all this, if I were to have a tag line for 2018, you know like “2018 the year of ……”, for me, id say “2018 the year of Pressing On”.
Whilst I know that God is set to do AMAZING things in our lives this year, I also know that it will come with us being prepared and ready to align ourselves with His will and doing our part as required.
Psalm 110:3a says;
Your people shall be volunteers
In the day of Your power;
So when I say press on, what exactly do I mean?
PRESS ON IN FELLOWSHIP WITH GOD
This is not the year to have an ‘epileptic’ relationship with God, or a ‘when I feel like it’ kind of relationship. Now more than ever, let 2018 set the tone for a deeper walk with God. We all need to set our hearts to seek Him for Him sake and not just for the blessings. This will certainly require several changes in our lifestyle, priority list, how we spend our time, what we say and do… etc. The changes required are different for us all. So examine yourself and find out what needs to be done to press in closer to God. Remember Psalm 27:8;
When You said, “Seek My face,”
My heart said to You, “Your face, Lord, I will seek.”
PRESS ON IN HOLDING FAST YOUR FAITH
Everytime a great blessing is set to come, it will be faced with great opposition because the enemy is nto just going to sit down and watch the children of God get blessed. So this means there will also be many challenges to overcome.
Many times when we face challenges we feel we have offended God, or He doesn’t love us or we are paying for our shortcomings etc. Remember “Jesus Paid it all”. Sometimes challenges come because they come (it’s part of our being on earth), and they also usually preceded a time of great blessing.
Think of Job, Joseph, Jesus, David, Abraham etc… All these cloud of witnesses whom we celebrate today. They all went through very trying times, but they all endured and came out victorious. That is also our portion, but we have to press on and push on and fight back and hold fast our confession. This year 2018 no matter what comes your way, stand on the word of God. Two scriptures come to my mind at this point;
12 Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, 2 looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
1st John 5:4
For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.
PRESS ON IN YOUR PRAISE
No matter what happens to you this year, keep your praise on. Never lose it. Count it all joy & rejoice in the Lord Always (Read James 1:2 & Philppians 4:4).
What the enemy seeks to do is get us to the point where we lose our praise and thereby lose our joy. Know this; “Faith is Activated by Joy“. You can’t be depressed and walk in faith. It doesn’t work that way. One scripture that helps to emphasize this is Romans 15:13;
Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
We need to be filled with Joy and peace in believing. When you are joyful, then you can be truly praiseful. And praise unlocks the blessing. So don’t lose your joy or praise. When things get difficult, remember how God has saved you in times past. Don’t forget God’s faithfulness because of present difficult circumstances. He’s too faithful to fail, so trust in Him always.
PRESS ON IN YOUR CONFESSION
The words we speak are POWERFUL, and they also stem from the thoughts we think. So allow the word of God to saturate your mind and thereby your words. No matter what happens, keep God’s word before your eyes and in your mouth. Read Romans 10:9-10.
If you have a company of people that make you think or talk negative, ditch them this year. “Aint nobody got time for that!!!!!!!” Find people with like minded faith who will keep you fired up. Those kinds of people that when you call them feeling sad, by the time they finish with you, you’d be on fire. That’s the kind of company we all need this year.
Keep your mouth declaring God’s word. Remember these words in Job 22:29;
When they cast you down, and you say, ‘Exaltation will come!’
Then He will save the humble person.
From the above we see that the response is in what we SAY, and from what we say, salvation comes. Also remember this scripture from Numbers 14:28;
Say to them, ‘As I live,’ says the Lord, ‘just as you have spoken in My hearing, so I will do to you:
Even God is bound by our words. So please watch what you say, not only in your time of prayer but every single moment. Be very conscious of your words.
Finally my brethren 🙂 , I hope with these few points of mine, I have been able to convince you to press on. We are in very interesting times and it is my prayer that we all step into God’s full promises for our lives in this time and season in Jesus name, Amen.
God bless you.
